Update: Struggles, New leads, and donations

Thank you very much for all the helpful Immigration recommendations.  I followed up and took
meetings with four lawyers. The first one told me to come back when I am married to an American citizen. The second lawyer wanted me to apply for DACA program, which I unfortunately don't qualify for. The third lawyer recommended an appeal of my second criminal charge and wanted $15,000 upfront. That still doesn't solve my immigration status.

The fourth lawyer asked me to obtain my records from the Sheriffs Department in Santa Clarita so we can refile for my green card.  My two trips to the Sheriffs Department were unsuccessful. Not only were they rude and not helpful, they sent me to various offices throughout Los Angeles. After two days of trying to obtain my records I ended up back at the Santa Clarita Sheriffs Office and was refused to be seen or talked to by the detective handling my case.

I have now contacted a 5th attorney to help resolve my case. Our meeting has been successful and I think this is the perfect fit for me. He is working on gaining my green card by obtaining my records from Santa Clarita. In the past few weeks I have learned a lot about my case and did half the research for this current lawyer. He has lowered the price from what was quoted and will charge me  $5,000.

I only have until August 1st and then I am returning home to finally see my daughter. I am remaining positive and hopeful that I will be successful in my quest to stay close to my child.

I am now looking for any donations for my lawyer fees.  If you feel it in your heart to give a dollar or more, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all the donations so far.

Petra And Charlie Stay In USA

Petra and Charlie Stay in USA is a blog to help gain awareness about a mother who is trying to find the right lawyer to  help her gain American Citizenship. Her daughter, Charlie, is an American Citizen. There are so many immigration lawyers to choose from, how do you know if you're getting the best one? Petra has spent over $6,000 in lawyer fees and her status to stay in the country has not changed.

Petra moved to LA when she was 14 years old on a student Visa. She got married to her high school sweet heart and then she gained her Green Card. One year later, he cheated on Petra. She became heartbroken and depressed and fell into drugs. Her battle to numb the pain was short lived because she got in trouble with the law, which made for an offense on her record. She turned her life around and now 12 years later she is being penalized by a mistake she made when she was 19.

Petra has a beautiful 3 1/2 year old daughter named Charlie. She loves to read, draw, and dance with her mom and dad. Charlie and her dad are citizens but it would be a shame if her mother had to leave the country. As a single mom who co-parents, Petra wants to keep her family close and strong.

Petra is currently working to gain $10,000, which is the going rate for immigration lawyers, so she can stay in the USA to raise her beautiful daughter with her family.

Once she has this money, who knows if the lawyer will fight for Petra to stay in the country or take her money like the last lawyer did. We are looking to spread her story in hopes of finding a passionate and  competent lawyer who will at least help get her Green Card reestablished, if not citizenship.

Petra wants to  be a good example for her daughter and enroll in college to become a Nutritionist or Dietician. Providing for her family and doing what she loves would make her a great role model for her daughter, but it will also help Petra gain a sense of freedom in a country she loves.

I've known Petra for over 7 years. She comes into the room with a smile and makes everyone light up. She is an upstanding person, who is truly caring and selfless. Petra is a hard worker who stays optimistic even through hard times.

Please share this story with as many people as you know, in hopes to find the right lawyer for Petra and Charlie to Stay in the USA!
